We’re looking for the very brightest and best people to design, build and fly drone applications that’ll make a difference in the real world and could save the lives of hundreds of people.

The University of Central Lancashire’s Civic Drone Centre is hosting its second hackathon where participants will be provided with all the materials they need to build a UAV that could be used in a disaster zone.

Here at the Civic Crone Centre we believe unmanned aerial vehicles could transform life in the field for our medics, our search and rescue professionals, and people working for NGOs and charities delivering aid and food to people hit by natural disasters or caught in conflict situations in some of the world’s most inhospitable and difficult environments.

DroneHack 2.0, 19th & 20th September 2015 is for anyone who wants to work with brilliant likeminded people who are committed to coming up with great ideas and collaborating to build drone technologies and applications for humanitarian aid...

THIS TIME IT’S PERSONAL... in as much as we’ve asked NGO’s, Medics, Charities and Search and Rescue operatives to create a set of requirements for DroneHack 2.0

We’ve also asked them to design some real life scenarios which we’ll recreate during on day 2 of the hack so you’ll have a chance to see if your idea will really help save lives.

And of course, you’ll have the chance to wrestle the coveted and highly prestigious Golden Drone award from its current holder.

So... if you’re a great coder who can programme an Arduino or a Raspberry Pi, and if you’re happy to work with great people who’ve never even heard of any of that stuff! If you’re into mechanical design with a good grasp of Solidworks get signed up. Maybe you can fly a UAV or have some experience of programming navigation firmware - you’re welcome. Even if you’re just handy with a soldering iron or know how to connect wiring looms up you’d be a really invaluable part of any team on the day.
